Liverpool charity Vibe bringing to life ‘Cradle to Career’ vision in Halton and Knowsley

Liverpool Charity Vibe, alongside partners Mako Create and Altru Drama have brought to life a vibrant youth offer for the young people of Halton Lea in Runcorn and Northwood in Kirkby. Work has been taking place to develop a youth club in both localities for two evenings a week and a Detached youth offer in Northwood. The youth offer will provide local young people with a safe place to meet, socialise and develop skills.

After being awarded over £390,000 in funding from Right to Succeed, through their Cradle to Career Funding, Vibe and the charities partners will be funded for delivery until March 2026.

Cradle to Career puts the people of the Liverpool City Region at the heart of education, services and decision-making. Following discovery phases in Halton and Knowsley, bespoke programmes were developed for communities in Halton Lea and Northwood. These focus on supporting vulnerable learners; reducing the number of post-16 school leavers not in education, employment or training; developing robust facilities and activities for all; and creating a family support hub to support social, emotional and mental wellbeing in the community.

Vibe sessions in Halton Lea are being run from the Glendale Centre on Wednesday and Thursday between the times of 6:30pm and 8:30pm. As part of a structured youth work offer.

Vibe sessions in Knowsley for the Youth Club, are being run from Northwood Community Centre on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Vibe will also deliver an additional ‘Detached Youth offer’ from All Saints CHS on Monday and Friday between 6:30pm and 8:30pm, which will see our youth workers around Northwood for four evenings each week.

Across both areas, young people are encouraged to get involved, speak with youth workers and connect with friends while having fun and directing the activity.

Vibe’s delivery partners, Mako Create offers a range of creative, tech-based activities and projects that are exciting, engaging and educational. Furthermore, Altru Drama deliver drama workshops, performances and projects for communities. Using drama to build confidence, develop skills and deliver messages.  Vibe’s aim as a charity is to boost positive activity for young people in the area, to help reduce social isolation and increase each individuals’ sense of belonging in their local community.

Young people who attend the programme will also develop life skills, mix across all social ages and will be provided the opportunity for social action and the chance to volunteer.

The charity will deliver informal and social education to youngsters in the region while also promoting personal and social development.

The aim of the youth offer is to provide a safe, strong and fun youth offer, enabling young people to make the most of their relationships while feeling proud of and connected to their community.

Vibe CEO Paul Oginsky said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Right to Succeed for the ‘Cradle to Career’ funding. Through the ‘Cradle to Career’ initiative Vibe can now demonstrate how expert youth work and strong partnerships will ensure a successful future for the young people of Halton Lea in Runcorn and Northwood in Kirkby”.
