Knowsley children who are eligible for free school meals will be able to enjoy a range of free healthy living activities over the Easter half-term.

Knowsley SNAP (Sports, Nutrition, Active Play) will return for the Easter break, ensuring all children in the borough will continue to have access to a healthy meal while they’re away from school. The sessions, which have been funded by the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food Grant, will be managed by staff from Vibe and Volair.

Starting on Tuesday 6 April, activities will take place indoors (following social distancing guidelines) and outdoors and will range from archery to multi-sports and arts and crafts.

There will also be health and wellbeing workshops focussing on things like nutrition and mental health.

There are 780 places available to attend the activities, with an additional 960 virtual places available to attend a mixture of pre-recorded and live online sessions. The sessions will include a healthy meal provided by the Knowsley Kitchen partnership.

Activities will take place in the following venues:

  • Vibe Our Place Youth Club, Huyton
  • Volair Halewood
  • Volair Kirkby

Online sessions, which will take place in the evenings, will include Easter crafts, healthy cooking, games and quiz nights and physical and mental health workshops. Content for the sessions has been designed in consultation with young people.

COVID-secure measures include:

  • Small groups
  • Social distancing measures inside and outside
  • Hand sanitisers will be available
  • Young people (11+) will be asked to wear a face mask throughout the activity unless exempt
